A Poem About Belville Riverwalk Park…

Belville Riverwalk Park is an amazing place,

To walk and learn at your own pace.

The trails are pretty and kept with care,

By the Park Rangers who are always there.

They tell you about the critters and creatures,

That this park so proudly features.

They tell you about the plants and trees,

And the fungus and mosses that blow in the breeze.

Near the education pavilion sits an interesting attraction,

A pond of flora and rocks for dragonflies in action.

Over 3,000 species begin with an aquatic stage below,

So protecting their natural habitat helps these insects grow!

Under the raised boardwalks with rails to guide,

You walk over the marsh where wildlife hide.

Reptiles like 'gators – such toothy critters,

See you and smile – and give you the jitters.

By the river’s edge you'll see turtles sunning,

Don't get too close or you'll send them running.

They climb on driftwood and old cypress stumps,

Where they bask in the sun and just look like bumps.

From the big pier with a floating dock,

Rowboats and fishing boats gently rock.

You can fish from the pier and clean your haul,

From the cleaning table that can be used by all.

There is even a ramp to launch your small boat,

To fish on the river or just hang out and float.

The shore birds are a bright sight to see,

White egrets and herons stand on bended knee.

They fly and stand gracefully searching for a meal,

Any tasty morsel they find – but a shrimp would be a deal.

The Southside of the park is a shaded and grassy ground,

For community events and family to gather year-round.

Pavilions and stages that make events able,

And many private spots for a picnic on a table.

You'll find a large playground with ladders, slides and swings,

Where children are strolled and playtime pleasantly rings.

Dogs are welcome to play, bark and holler,

So long as they are kept on leash and collar.

The restrooms are kept clean with care,

By the friendly Park Rangers who are always there.

They make sure every visit to Riverwalk Park,

Is fun, safe, and happy – until dark.
